Healthy sleep can help you stay away from unhealthy eating habits
Most of you strive day in and out to avoid unhealthy eating habits, especially those who are wanting to lose weight. Sleep allows many of our hormones to replenish so that we have the optimal energy, immunity, appetite and coping ability to face day’s highs and lows.
Sleep helps to balance our appetite by maintaining optimum levels of the hormones ghrelin and leptin. So just when we get less sleep than normal we may feel an urge to eat more than required.
Sleep controls levels of insulin and cortisol hormones which help us wake up hungry and prompts us to eat breakfast, which enables or prepares our body in turn to deal with daytime stress.
Another hormone which can get affected due to lack of sleep is prolactin which can weaken the immune system, reduce concentration levels and lead to carbohydrate cravings during the day.
It’s evident from various researches that an increased urge to eat more, having no proper breakfast, increased carbohydrate cravings can lead to unhealthy eating habits and associated problems. Thus to conclude healthy sleep will help keep a balance of various hormones that in turn will help the body to stay away from factors leading to unhealthy eating and associated diseases and disorders.
